Due to lack of proper health care facilities in rural areas of Sindh, patients face problems in timely diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Below is an account of such a patient:
Haji Jan Muhammad, resident of Tando Muhammad Khan shared his own life experience. A few months back, he developed severe abdominal pain and fever. He contacted many local doctors for treatment but after spending his meager earnings on tests and medicine he still could not get relief. After wasting a lot of time and money, some family friends advised him to approach AKUH Karachi through Information desk Hyderabad. The staff there, including a doctor, reviewed his case and set up an appointment for him at AKUH, Karachi. Mr. Muhammad was advised surgery but due to exhaustion of his finances, could not pay the whole sum. He was then referred to the Welfare Department who accepted his request and supported him in his financial predicament and made his cure possible. Today Haji Jan Muhammad is living healthy life with his family thanks to the AKUH team.

My initial experience at AKUH, Karachi for my mom’s open heart surgery (CABG) was extremely satisfactory especially regarding the professionalism of doctors and nursing staff. I will always remember in my prayers two foremost people, Dr. Faheem Jafri who performed angiography and Dr. Hasanath M Sharif who carried out the bypass surgery. Such great doctors with such rich medical experience are not easy to find but yet so easily accessible in AKUH. I was amazed at their humility and kind attitude. The entire team of doctors and nurses from pre operation to post operation took excellent care of my mother and now Alhumdullilah she is on her path to full recovery. My recent experience with AKUH in Karachi was once again very professionally arranged in advance by Dr. Najia in Dubai which saved a lot of my valuable time. This time my wife was diagnosed with a ‘dermoid cyst’ which required immediate removal through laparoscopic surgery. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better doctor than Dr. Nadeem Zubairi who carried out the procedure. I must say he is not only the best in his class but also a wonderful human being with a great sense of humor. All in all a very satisfying experience with AKUH, Karachi. On behalf of my entire family, I would like to wish them the best of everything. We would also like to wish all the patients in their care ‘a speedy recovery ‘. Once again a very big ‘Thank you’ to Dr. Najia for introducing AKUH, Karachi to us and making our lives so much easier. We wish you all the very best!!!

I would definitely recommend others to visit AKUH for best and appropriate treatment, though the diagnostic procedures are quite lengthy but the treatment is correct. The emergency staff is very cooperative besides that I must appreciate the Referral Office Quetta which facilitated me by informing the Emergency Department about the condition of patient before arriving; we found the emergency team ready for us….

I was totally new in Karachi and had visited AKUH for the first time. I was astonished by the huge number of patients that were constantly coming and going from the clinics. It would have been very difficult for me to find my way through the hospital had it not been for the AKUH Referral Office Quetta. Their coordinator had booked my appointment in advanced and guided me throughout my visit at AKUH, Karachi. I am under treatment at AKUH, Karachi for the last one year, initially referred by AKUH Referral Office Quetta. I have had multiple visits at AKUH, Karachi since then. The best part is the record system (file keeping) because by the help of this record system, whenever I come to the hospital the doctor always has my previous history and treatment and can provide further treatment accordingly. Besides that I am very much satisfied by the attitude and sympathetic behavior of the doctors and the staff.

My mother is a long term patient at the Clifton Medical Centre. She is a diabetic and suffers from chronic ear and skin infections. Most of the staff is familliar with my mother as well as my family. She is very comfortable with the doctors and staff and feels quite at home even when the appointment waiting is sometimes long. We have confidence in the care provided to our mother and have found the laboratory and radiology servces to be authentic as compared to national and international diagniostic centres.
