Message from the Medical Director
Dear Visitor,
The Aga Khan University (AKU) is now in its 27th year of operations. AKU and the University Hospital are autonomous, privately funded, philanthropic institutions committed to providing quality health education and health services to the people of Pakistan and the region
The Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) is the primary teaching affiliate of AKU. The Hospital provides a broad range of latest and advanced diagnostic and therapeutic services. It continues to expand its scope of services in order to remain at the cutting edge of health care. New faculty is regularly inducted and current faculty undergoes continuous professional development in order to achieve these goals. To ensure patient safety, our clinical staff is fully credentialed and clinical privileges are granted with great care. Over the past several years, all the major clinical disciplines have grown into various sub-specialties and our residency and fellowship programmes are approved by the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan, as well as the Royal Colleges in UK.
AKUH is a JCIA accredited and ISO 9001-2008 certified hospital. It is the first hospital in Pakistan and among the few teaching hospitals in the region and world to receive this prestigious accreditation. JCIA accreditation is a validation of our sustained commitment to deliver quality patient care. In order to improve the quality of services the hospital collaborates with reputed hospital like John Hopkins, Henry Ford etc.
We recognize the importance of close communication between our doctors and referring physicians. To nurture this interaction a regular series of Continuing Medical Education (CME) seminars is conducted. These provide an opportunity to our physicians and referring physicians to update their knowledge and share their experience. In addition to CME activities, AKUH works hard to provide feedback letters to the referring physicians through its referral feedback system. In order to maintain the continuity of care, our intent is to refer your patients back to your facility, once the required treatment is complete.
The purpose of this site is to introduce you to AKUH, it's faculty members, clinical departments and the information you need to make timely referrals. I hope that it will provide you sufficient information on our clinical and non- clinical services and would facilitate you in giving us the opportunity for sharing the care of your patients.
Yours sincerely,
Dr Zafar Nazir
Interim Medical Director and Associate Dean, Clinical Affairs
