Microbiology
Microbiology lab deals with bacteriology, mycobacteriology, mycology, parasitology, serology and urinalysis. It is divided into 11 subsections:
Sample Receiving and Processing Bench
All samples brought to the clinical microbiology are at first received by this section. Here we receive samples and process them according to the nature of sample.
Urinalysis
Here we do detail report of urine samples including physical, chemical, microscopic examination. For chemical analysis we use clinitek instrument which reads the different parameter.
Parasitology
Parasitology bench deals with intestinal parasites. Samples of feces are examined here for the presence of any intestinal parasite. All slides are prepared here inside a safety cabinet.
Serology
In serology section immunological and serological tests are performed by different techniques like Latex agglutination, hemagglutination and antibody absorption.
Mycobacteriology Culture and Sensitivity
In this section all TB smear, culture and sensitivity performed in two Biosafety II cabinets to avoid risk of infection.
Nose, Throat, Sputum and Urogenital Cultures and Sensitivity
On NTS bench all bacteriological cultures are performed related to respiratory tract and genital tract infections.
Wounds Culture and Sensitivity
Culture of wound swab, pus, aspirates, body fluids including CSF are the responsibility of this bench.
Urine Culture and Sensitivity
Different types of urine culture performed here including mid stream urine and catheter samples of urine. Each sample is processed and evaluated accordingly.
Blood Culture and Sensitivity
In this section culturing of blood samples is done with the help of three Bactec 9240, flourometric instruments. Each instrument is capable of running 240 samples at a time.
Quality Control
In this part bacteriologically quality control of water, food products and enviornment is done with the help of different media and colony counter.
Mycology Culture
All requests for fungus smear and culture processed here in a bio safety II cabinet to avoid infection from fungal spore.
