Urgent Care Services

The Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) at Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi is a pioneer in emergency medical services in Pakistan. DEM is responsible for providing 24/7 emergency care at the Stadium Road Campus and Urgent Care Services at the Clifton Medical Services.

A dedicated team of physicians, nurses and other health professionals is responsible for providing patient care relating to assessment, stabilization, diagnosis, and disposition of acute illness or injury. These emergencies include chest pain, surgical abdomens, shortness of breath, stroke, complicated pregnancies, broken bones, diarrhea and asthma. Many of our patients are referrals from other centers in the country. Both sites serve patients of all ages including children, adults and elderly.

Apart from medical care, emergency services at Stadium Road Campus include Laboratory services, Radiology including CT scan and MRI, Pharmacy and Nutritionist services. It has separate adult and Pediatric Care areas.

The Urgent Care Centre in Clifton is equipped with Stat laboratory, Pharmacy and General Radiography. The service caters to medical problems that are not emergencies but need to be seen the same day. Patients with critical, serious or life-threatening illnesses/injuries are transferred to the Stadium Road Campus in a fully equipped ambulance staffed by a physician.
