Paediatric Endocrinology Service
The Paediatric Endocrinology Service provides comprehensive diagnostic, therapeutic, and long-term management services for children and adolescents with hormonal, metabolic, and endocrine disorders. The service specializes in the management of Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM), growth disorders, thyroid diseases, adrenal disorders including Cushing's syndrome, childhood obesity, and disorders of puberty.
In addition, the service offers assessment and management of paediatric lipid disorders, including elevated cholesterol and other inherited or acquired lipid abnormalities, with a strong focus on preventive cardiovascular health and overall wellness.
Care is delivered through outpatient clinics, inpatient consultations, multidisciplinary management, and patient education programs. Special emphasis is placed on diabetes education, insulin management, glucose monitoring, nutritional counselling, lifestyle modification, and family support to help children achieve optimal health outcomes.
The service is run by a team of paediatric endocrinology specialist working closely with dietitians, diabetes educators, nurses, laboratory services, and other paediatric subspecialties to provide holistic care.
Clinics are conducted from Monday to Friday at the Paediatric Specialist Clinics and Paediatric Consulting Clinics. The service provides ongoing follow-up and transition planning to support children and adolescents as they progress through different stages of growth and development.
