What is a Mass Casualty/Major Incident?
A Mass Casualty/Major Incident is an event where the number of live casualties exceed the emergency services available e.g. terrorist attack, fire, plane crash, road accident etc..
Aga Khan University Hospital has a defined Mass Casualty/Major Incident management plan to assist the facility effectively manage multiple casualties simultaneously.

Mass Casualty/Major Incident activation at the Hospital
If you are within the hospital and hear CODE GREEN or CODE ORANGE over the Public Address (PA) system, DO NOT PANIC!
These CODES are to inform the staff of a Mass Casualty/Major Incident and to activate our hospital response plan.
What does one do or where does one go after its activated?
If you are within the hospital and hear CODE GREEN or CODE ORANGE over the Public Address (PA) system, DO NOT PANIC! Follow the instructions provided by the staff to ensure your safety.
If you are not within the hospital, where possible, delay your visit to the hospital until the Mass Casualty/Major Incident has been called off and normal services have resumed.
