<p>The prevalence of Hepatitis is much higher in Pakistan as compared to other parts of the world. The widespread of this disease is mostly due to factors that include; unscreened blood transfusions, unsterilised dental as well as surgical instruments, unhygienic reuse of syringes in hospitals and other healthcare facilities. Lack of awareness, insufficient preventive measures and shortage of treatment facilities, are some factors adding to the burden of the disease. Early diagnosis and screening for Hepatitis C is vital as it can help to treat the patient promptly before it gets worst. </p><div>To eradicate Hepatitis C from Pakistan, The Aga Khan University Hospital has taken the leadership role in introducing specialized Hepatitis C clinics at Medical Centres across Pakistan. </div><div>
</div><div>To further proliferate these efforts and with its collaboration with the Government of Sindh to eradicate Hepatitis C, the programme has now extended to Medical Centres in Larkana and Benazirabad. We have a panel of specialised doctors that offer best consultation to patients that are diagnosed with Hepatitis C to facilitate the treatment promptly at these Medical Centres. This initiative has enabled numerous patients to have access to timely screening, diagnosis and treatment of the disease. </div><div>

He emphasised that, "Hepatitis C is curable if diagnosed in the early stage and if treated properly. While the duration of the treatment we offer is 3 months, patients are required to be proactive in taking their medication, adopting safe behaviour and getting tested regularly and consulting routinely with the doctor as required."</div>
