At The Aga Khan University Hospital, we understand that each person experiences pain differently. However, living with pain is not necessary; relief is possible. With this approach, the AKUH Pain Management Clinic held a Free Pain Camp at the Main Campus Courtyard, on Wednesday, 16 October 2017.

At this camp, doctors offered free screening consultations to 228 patients, who could discuss their cases and have the doctors look at their reports and x-rays. Doctors wrote pain prescriptions and advised on lifestyle changes that could help these patients relieve themselves from pain.

The patients who needed further investigation, were booked on-the-spot for follow ups at the AKUH's Pain Management Clinic. This Pain Clinic offers personalised and tailored care for each patient, stressing the belief that pain is different for everyone.

Visitors of the camp also benefitted from mini-presentations by the doctors, who explained pain types and causes, using models for demonstrations. The overall feedback of the camp was that the presentations and consultations were very helpful to the patients and a majority said they would continue their care at The Aga Khan University Hospital.
