Interactive Facebook Live Session on Quit Smoking

 
<p>​</p><p>This Ramadan, take the opportunity, gather courage - Quit Smoking and move towards a healthy life style. The Aga Khan University Hospital organized an interactive Facebook Live Session with their expert panel of doctors in order to help its audience understand the benefits of quitting smoking and how to manage the post effects of quitting smoking. The Facebook Live session was focused on the following areas:</p><ul style="list-style-type: disc;"><li>Problems associated with smoking – including major diseases such as cancer and lung problems</li><li>Oral hygiene – dealing with bad breath and maintaining your teeth</li><li>Passive smoking – how it is affecting people around you</li></ul><p>The expert panel of doctors consisted of:</p><ul style="list-style-type: disc;"><li>Dr. Unab Khan, Associate Professor, Family Medicine</li><li>Dr. Javaid Khan. Professor, Pulmonology</li><li>Dr. Naveed Haroon Rashid, Senior Instructor, Pulmonology</li><li>Dr. Ali Sadiq, Senior Instructor, consultant Periodontist</li></ul><p>The audience shared their questions live on our Facebook page and inbox, and over 70 questions were received. The one-hour long session was well received on social media and a large audience was engaged till the end of the session. Queries were focused on some of the following areas: </p><ul style="list-style-type: disc;"><li>Rehabilitation once a person quits smoking</li><li>The process of quitting smoking, it was the concern of many if they could immediately quit smoking</li><li>Queries regarding passive smoking was also covered, we may not realize but smoking can be really harmful for pregnant women, small babies and whoever is in your surrounding</li><li>Since asthma is a result of smoking, managing asthma with exercise and proper diet is possible</li><li>Chances of having cancer and other diseases </li><li>Oral hygiene and how to improve it for smokers </li></ul><p>The session was very beneficial for our audience as it provided patients with much information on how to deal with smoking related diseases.
