AKUH Nutrition and Food Services Gets Recertified for Gold Standard

 
<p>The Aga Khan University Hospital takes pride in continuously working to maintaing international standards and attaining global quality certifications. In doing so, the Nutrition and Food Services Department (NFSD) at the Aga Khan University Hospital has once again successfully gone through the triennial recertification audit for AKUH Food Safety Management System (FSMS) based on ISO 22000-2005. This certification was first received in the year 2009 and is now valid from the period of 2018 to 2021.</p><p>​The two-days audit was conducted on 17<span style="font-size: 10.5px;"> </span>and 18 of April 2018 by a team of auditors who reviewed all aspects of the service such as: preparation, serving and distribution of foods within the AKUH campus. The auditors found the quality standards at the Aga Khan University Hospital very satisfactory. It was a great moment of pride for the team of NFSD when the audit team highlighted and appreciated the fact that the Aga Khan University Hospital&#39;s SOP&#39;s are shared as example of best practices with other organizations.</p><p>ISO certifications provide international standards for quality management systems. The ISO 22000:2005, exclusive to the food and beverage industry, promotes best food safety practices and offers a system of checks and balances at critical processing points, to control and maintain the highest food quality standards. The recent achievement by the NFSD department keeps the momentum going for the team and the Department to keep the bar high for its quality management.</p>
