<div>As the breast cancer awareness month continues this October, it is important to remind ourselves, not only during October, but throughout the year about the importance of breast screening mammograms. The aim of having a yearly screening mammogram for women above the age of 40, is to detect breast cancer at its early stage. Breast Cancer is a silent yet highly prevalent disease that could put one in every eight Pakistani women, at risk of breast cancer in her lifetime.

</div><div>Husbands, sons, brothers and fathers must support their wives, mothers, sisters and daughters in this cause and must play their part in spreading awareness by making sure the women in their lives are taking all the preventative measures against breast cancer. In order to support women, make sure they book and get a yearly Mammogram or a breast examination done. </div><div>
</div><div>Postponing a screening could potentially miss the chance of early cancer detection. Early detection of breast cancer is crucial to the rate of survival in breast cancer patients. The smaller the tumour, the lesser the treatment will be necessary and there would be a better outcome on treatment given and hence survival. Don’t delay! Every woman whose age is 40 years and above must get an annual Screening Mammogram. </div><div>
</div><div>Mammograms help in screening against Breast Cancer, thus no prescription is required to get it done. Those who do have a family history must or any risk factors must consider getting screening done at least once a year. </div><div>
