ISO 9001:2015 Certification for The Aga Khan Secondary Hospitals

<div>The Aga Khan Hospital for Women and Children, Kharadar and The Aga Khan Maternity and Child Care Centre (AKMCCC), Hyderabad, are the first medical facilities in the healthcare sector to acquire the ISO 9001:2015 certification across the Aga Khan Development Network, and are amongst the top 10 Pakistani organizations to do so.</div><div>Commenting on the importance of this certification, Dr. Mairaj Shah, Director, The Aga Khan Secondary Hospitals, said, </div><div>“This is a powerful endorsement by ISO, highlighting the fact that we have quality management standards in place, and that has led to improved customer satisfaction amongst our patients.”</div><div>
</div><div>
</div><div>ISO standards constantly undergo a review process every 5 years to help maintain the relevance of these standards amongst management systems. The previous version of ISO 9001:2008 has recently been replaced with a new version, ISO 9001:2015. The latest edition of ISO 9001 is up- to-date and encompasses the modern needs of organizations. Instead of being prescriptive, ISO 9001:2015 focuses more on performance. The ISO committee has done this by employing the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle at all levels in any organization.</div><div>
</div><div>
</div><div>The Aga Khan Secondary Hospitals received their first ever ISO 9001:2008 certification in the year 2010. The Secondary Hospitals then received re-certification in 2014. </div><div>To help maintain quality standards, The Aga Khan Secondary Hospitals have internal audits, twice yearly. These hospitals also have an annual surveillance audit, conducted by a third party, and every three years, an audit is conducted for certification or re-certification by a registrar.</div>
