The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at The Aga Khan University Hospital runs a full-service laboratory, serving patients and doctors all over Pakistan. The department's laboratory network comprises the Main Clinical Laboratory located at the Main Hospital Campus in Karachi, 13 Stat Laboratories, and over 300 Laboratory Collection outlets and 244 phlebotomy stations around the country. All our Clinical Laboratory facilities are equipped with the latest technology and equipment, providing a variety of tests that help diagnose and monitor medical conditions, from routine screening blood work up to more complex genetic testing. The department is organized into five sections:
Laboratory testing involves a complex set of procedures, equipment, technology, and human skills to ensure accurate and timely results which doctors depend on for making diagnostic and treatment decisions. Given this complexity, any error occurring in any part of the laboratory cycle, from ordering tests to reporting, interpreting, and reacting to results can translate into real harm to the patients. We adopt a Total Quality Management System that ensures our laboratories establish, manage, and monitor a testing process that provides an appropriate qualitative approach for patient testing care services. The clinical laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art Biosafety Level 2 and Level 3 labs that are accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI) and College of American Pathologists (CAP) and hold the distinction of being the first Clinical Laboratories in Pakistan to get this accreditation.
Patients and doctors know that they can trust our reporting results for accuracy and timeliness because our facilities are managed by a team of highly qualified faculty, and trained laboratory professionals.
Patients and their doctors choose the Aga Khan University Hospital Clinical Laboratories because we offer:
