KIDNEY TRANSPLANT PROGRAMME AT AKUH

Solving Complexities Is Our Specialty

Overview:
Kidney Transplant (also called Renal Transplant) is a procedure where a diseased kidney is replaced by a healthy kidney from a donor. This is performed for people experiencing kidney failure and usually at the end stage of kidney disease. The Kidney Transplant programme at The Aga Khan University Hospital also offers pre-emptive transplants and offers transplants to qualifying patients across ages and disease complexities.

Our Team:

Our multidisciplinary team comprises of transplant surgeons, nephrologists, coordinators, transplant nurses, technicians, nutritionists, anesthetists, OR techs and pharmacists. Our European and American qualified doctors have over 30 years of experience, with experience of over a 1,000 kidney transplants. Together, our team provides comprehensive quality care and tailored treatment plans to ensure the best results for all our transplant patients.

Our Programme:

Our Kidney Transplant Programme is one of the few programmes in Pakistan that accepts complex cases, including patients suffering from Diabetes, and Hepatitis B &C, and patients who may have been declined by other transplant programmes in the country. We follow stringent international and local legal medical practices to safeguard both the recipients and donors. Our transplant protocol and post care services have been designed around those regulations in order to reduce the risk of infection, kidney rejection, and other unintended medical challenges.

Moreover, at The Aga Khan University Hospital, we offer all other services under one roof, such as Urology, Infectious Diseases, Haematology, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Pulmonology, Psychiatry, Dentistry, Dermatology and Vascular Surgery. If our patient is suffering from any other medical illnesses, the transplant team works with other specialists to ensure quick recovery.
