Paediatric Palliative Care Programme  
The AKUH Paediatric Palliative Care Programme offers specialised care and comfort to improve the quality of life for children with serious or life-limiting illnesses, and their families. We focus on managing pain and other symptoms, while providing emotional support throughout a child's illness and helping families navigate difficult decisions.

Our Services
We offer a comprehensive range of services to manage your child's condition, including:
- Pain and symptom management: We work to control pain and other physical symptoms that can cause discomfort. 
 - Psychological support: We provide emotional support for children and their families, including counseling and sibling support. 
 - Advanced care planning: We help families in making informed decisions for their child's future care. 
 - Home-based care: We provide support to patients and families at their preferred location, such as their home, in coordination with home health care services.
 - Bereavement support: We offer support to families who have lost a child.
 
Our Multidisciplinary Team
Our programme brings together a team for your child's complete care:
- Paediatric palliative care physician: A doctor specially trained in caring for children with serious illnesses. They also help families access resources and navigate social challenges. 
 - Clinical psychologists: They provide emotional and developmental support for children and families. 
 - Volunteers ('Paediatrics for Life' students' group): They provide support in birthday celebrations for children, make-a-wish events, making mementos for families, and more.
