Magnetic resonance imaging uses a powerful magnetic field and a series of radio wave energy pulses to produce detailed images of the tissues and organs within the body. An MRI does not employ radiation.

Ultrasound imaging uses high-frequency sound waves from a probe (transducer) to look at organs and structures inside the body.

X-rays (x-radiation) are a type of radiation known as electromagnetic waves.
