Prof. John Weru is the Chief Medical Officer and Associate Dean Clinical Affairs at AKUHN. He is a specialist in Pain, Palliative Medicine and Bioethics with over 20 years of clinical practice and leadership as section head and national as well as global professional associations.
He is charged with ensuring effective and efficient clinical governance in this premier institution as well as maintaining and continuously ensuring quality care that is safe to patients and which is nationally and internationally recognized and founded on contextualized evidence base.
He holds an MBChB (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery), an MPC (Master of Palliative Care), and an MBE (Master of Bioethics). Additionally, his advanced leadership qualifications includes a Fellowship in the Palliative Care Leadership Development Initiative (F-LDI).
