Welcome To The Aga Khan University Hospital, Pakistan.

As the Interim CEO of the Aga Khan University Hospital, it is my great pleasure to welcome you on behalf of our dedicated team of doctors, nurses and staff members, who work together to provide high quality healthcare services. The Aga Khan University Hospital, over the past three decades, has been a leader in delivering quality healthcare in the region, and has adapted to the rapidly changing and challenging healthcare needs of the people we serve. We are committed to delivering patient-centered care, at par with the best hospitals around the world. We are:

Demonstrating Quality and Excellence: Our quality standards are recognized through our accreditation by the Joint Commission International (JCI), the gold standard in quality and patient safety, and by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), the gold standard in clinical laboratory testing. Today, we are the only Anademic Medical Centre Hospital in Pakistan to hold both of these gold standard accreditations. Moreover, we have maintained JCI accreditation since 2006, raising the standards of healthcare delivery in the country. We take great pride in this and are dedicated to continuously improving quality standards and serving more and more patients.

Focusing on the Community: Over the years, we have focused on improving access to patients across the country. Our integrated healthcare network reaches across Pakistan through four Secondary Hospitals in Karachi and Hyderabad, a network of over 270 Clinical Laboratories in over 128 cities, over 25 Medical Centers, satellite Pharmacies and Home Healthcare Services. We aim to make quality healthcare facilities available to local communities near their homes through our subsidized clinics which are facilitated by our medical centres across Karachi from Baldia Town to Malir, and in other cities of Pakistan. Our commitment to making quality healthcare accessible to all is also demonstrated by our Patient Welfare programme. We are a not-for-profit, private hospital, and just in 2018, we provided Patient Welfare of Rs.2.3 billion to financially support the cost of medical treatment for over 780,000 patients. Our spend on Patient Welfare has more than doubled since 2013.

National AIDS Control Programme (NACP) to fight against HIV/AIDS and establish treatment centres at AKUH,K.

Training our Staff: We focus on training and developing our staff to improve and enhance their skills. This not only contributes to streamlining processes but also encourages them to enhance their practical skills to become leaders. Almost 40% of our workforce are females who make diligent contributions in different roles at the Main Hospital, Secondary Hospitals, Medical Centres, Clinical Laboratories and Pharmacies.

Working on our Future Plans: As a world-class Academic Medical Center Hospital, we invest heavily in new technology and employ ground-breaking research in treatment and care to best serve our patients. The Aga Khan University Hospital is a quaternary care hospital; we are fully equipped to manage complex cases and in recent years have helped transplant patients recover to lead normal lives. Our patient acuity levels are comparable to the top 50 hospitals in the United States with the highest Case Mix Index.  We honor the highest ethics in medical practice and provide life-saving treatment to anyone who walks through our doors.
