​Screening and ​Testing for COVID-19

  1. By appointment:  We have re-started COVID-19 screening and testing at the University Hospital. Please call 021-111-911-911 for a FREE tele-screening appointment. Based on your screening results, your doctor will book you an appointment for a COVID-19 test. Testing is being offered by appointment at a new dedicated testing site at our Main Campus on Stadium Road, Karachi. 

  1. Admitted patients: Those in the University Hospital, Main Campus, are being screened and tested only when necessary.

  2. Emergency patients: Those who are very sick and come to the Emergency Department at the University Hospital, Main Campus, ​suspected with COVID-19 are screened, admitted, tested and taken care of as necessary.​

​​Please BE AWARE: Only the PCR based test is recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) for COVID-19 diagnosis.​​​ The Government Helpline 1166 or your provincial helpline can be contacted for guidance on other validated screening and testing facilities.​

  • Call to confirm your appointment or admission the day before, if you have not heard from us.
  • Wear a mask and carry your hand sanitizer.
  • Come alone if possible or you may bring ONE attendant if absolutely necessary.
  • Note that if admitted, you may not be permitted any visitors.
  • Keep your distance, at least an arms-length, from other people.
  • Expect our guards to ask you about your visit, when you enter our facility.
  • Note that photography or filming on our premises is prohibited.

Instructions for SUSPECTED COVI​D-19 patients

1) What does SUSPECT​ED mean?

Suspected means that you may be infected, you have been screened and tested and you are waiting for your results.​

​2) What should you do in the SUSPECTED state?

  • ​​You must ISOLATE yourself away from other household members, so you don't infect them.
  • ​Stay in a SEPARATE room away from other family members. If that is not possible, stay at least 1 meter away from others at all times.
  • Use a SEPARATE bathroom, towels and eating utensils, so you don't infect others. If using a separate bathroom is not possible, the bathroom must be disinfected after each time you use it.
  • The duration of the ISOLATION ​period differs from person to person based on your assessment. Follow your doctors' instructions carefully.​​

Instructions for CONFIRMED COVI​D-19 patients​


1) Wh​at does CONFIRMED mean?
Confirmed means that you have tested positive for COVID-19.​

2) What should you do if you are a CONFIRMED COVID-19 patient?

With mild symptoms: 
  • ​​You must ISOLATE yourself away from other household members, so you don't infect them.
  • ​Stay in a SEPARATE room away from other family members. If that is not possible, stay at least 1 meter away from others at all times.
  • Use a SEPARATE bathroom, towels and eating utensils, so you don't infect others. If using a separate bathroom is not possible, the bathroom must be disinfected after each time you use it.
  • The duration of the ISOLATION​ ​period is based on your assessment. You should remain under home isolation precautions until the risk of transmission to others is thought to be low. The decision to discontinue isolation is made in consultation with your doctors and varies patient to patient​. Follow your doctors' instructions carefully.​

With moderate symptoms: ​
I​f your symptoms worsen, you may need ​​hospitalization. You should call one of the Helplines and continue with self-isolation. The health support professionals will guide you further.

  • The duration of the QUARANTINE ​period differs from person to person based on your assessment. Follow your Doctors' instructions carefully.​​
  • You may need hospitalization. You should consult a doctor immediately or rush to the Emergency.
