​​​COVID-19 Testing for Travellers

​If you are travelling outside of Pakistan, your airline may have mandated you to get tested prior to your travel date. The Aga Khan University Hospital’s Clinical Laboratories are pleased to offer COVID-19 test for travellers. It is essential to test negative for COVID-19 in order to get travel clearance from the airline.

The Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) is accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI) as an Academic Medical Centre and its Clinical Laboratories are accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) for fast and accurate testing. 

All travellers are requested to carry the following documents when coming to AKUH for COVID-19 test:

  • Consent Form (download from here​)
  • Ticket (Booking Reference / PNR, Flight Number, Flight Date)
  • CNIC
  • Passport​

COVID Testing Services in Karachi is available from Monday – Saturday 9am – 9pm, Sunday 9am – 5pm. You will be asked to come to COVID-19 Screening and Testing Zone at the Stadium Road campus for the test.

COVID Testing Services in Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi/Islamabad and Hyderabad is available through home sample collection; from Monday – Saturday 9am – 6pm, Sunday 9am – 5pm.

Please keep a buffer of minimum 72 hours to avoid any delay. Hold a copy of the test result (certificate) stating that the result is negative when reporting to the airports. Children under the age of 12 are exempted when travelling with their families.

For passengers travelling to Korea, a PCR test is required for everyone irrespective of their age (including infants and children). The PCR test should be taken within 48hrs before the departure time.

Passengers travelling to Hong Kong and Japan are required to bring the below documents when reporting to the airport. These documents will be issued from Aga Khan University Hospital, Stadium Road Sopariwala Building (service available only for Karachi city). 

 
  • Negative Report
  • Covering letter issued by Lab with report
  • Copy of Government approval to lab for carry out testing
All travelers should ensure that the COVID-19 PCR test is taken within the timeline informed by your Airline. Test results will be made available within 48 hours.​
COVID-19 test results can be accessed online through e-reporting portal. The login credentials will be provided on your billing receipt. You may also collect the report in-person from nearest collection unit or Soparivala Building at the Stadium Road campus. Please note that with your consent signed in the consent form (download from here​), the test results will also be shared with your respective airline as per the mandated protocols. ​
