Department of Dentistry
The Department of Dentistry at The Aga Khan University Hospital provides comprehensive oral healthcare, including preventive, restorative, and surgical services involving the teeth, gums, jaw, and facial structures.
The Department manages a wide range of dental and oral conditions, including acute and chronic dental disease, periodontal disorders, congenital anomalies, maxillofacial conditions, and traumatic injuries. Services are delivered primarily in an outpatient setting, with access to operating theatres and general anaesthesia for surgically complex or medically indicated cases.
Clinical services include preventive dentistry, restorative procedures, endodontics, prosthodontics, orthodontics, dental implants, periodontal surgery, oral and maxillofacial surgery, corrective jaw procedures, and maxillofacial prosthetics. Advanced dental imaging, including cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), supports precise diagnosis and treatment planning.
Oral and maxillofacial surgeons work closely with other hospital specialties in the management of facial trauma, oral pathology, oncology-related reconstruction, and complex craniofacial conditions.
As part of a multidisciplinary academic medical centre, the Department contributes to clinical education and maintains high standards of infection control, patient safety, and professional practice.
