Laila Khymani

Director, Home Health Services and Outreach Medical Centres

Laila Khymani serves as the Director of Home Health Services and Outreach Medical Centres at the Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH). Since joining the institution in 2014, she has provided strategic, operational, and financial leadership to scale the hospital's outreach healthcare network. Her mandate ensures that high-quality clinical standards are seamlessly delivered across all community clinics and home health services.

A champion of innovation and expansion, Ms Khymani’s overarching vision is to transform the outreach and home health division into a premiere, digitally integrated regional network. Through a hub-and-spoke service integration model, she aims to make top-tier hospital care accessible anywhere across the country.

She approaches institutional leadership with a philosophy rooted in compassion, collaboration, and continuous improvement, empowering multidisciplinary teams to use data-driven decision-making to deliver safe, patient-centred care.

During her tenure at AKUH, Ms Khymani has spearheaded several major strategic initiatives. She re-engineered the Home Health Services delivery model by introducing a patient navigation system and a pioneering variable pay model for home care nurses. Additionally, she was selected for a strategic secondment to lead the end-to-end commissioning of the Aga Khan Medical Centre, Gilgit. Ms Khymani also successfully directed the complete expansion and modernisation of AKUH’s flagship outpatient facility, Clifton Medical Services (CMS), enhancing capacity and patient experience without disrupting ongoing clinical operations.

Before assuming her current position, Ms Khymani served as Senior Administrator for Outreach Medical Services, Administrator of the Nursing Division and Quality Assurance at FMIC, and Nursing Manager for Clinical Care Units of Aga Khan Health Services across Pakistan.

Ms Khymani earned her Master of Public Health from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, alongside diplomas in Nursing and Midwifery from the Aga Khan University School of Nursing and Midwifery in Karachi and the Aga Khan Maternal and Child Care Centre in Hyderabad.

She is an active member of the Pakistan Nurses Federation and Sigma Theta Tau International (RHO Delta Chapter) and was previously affiliated with the Royal College of Nursing in the United Kingdom.
