Overview
Kidney transplant (also called renal transplant) is a procedure in which a diseased kidney is replaced with a healthy kidney from a donor. This is performed for patients experiencing kidney failure, usually at the end stage of kidney disease. The Kidney Transplant Programme at The Aga Khan University Hospital also offers pre-emptive transplants and provides services to qualifying patients across all ages and disease complexities.

Our Team
Our multidisciplinary team includes transplant surgeons, nephrologists, coordinators, transplant nurses, technicians, nutritionists, anesthetists, operating room technicians, and pharmacists. Our European and American qualified doctors have over 30 years of experience, with expertise in more than 1,000 kidney transplants. Together, our team provides comprehensive, high-quality care and tailored treatment plans to ensure the best possible outcomes for all transplant patients.

Our Programme
Our Kidney Transplant Programme is one of the few programmes in Pakistan that manages complex cases, including patients with diabetes and Hepatitis B & C, as well as those who may have been declined by other transplant centres. We follow strict international and local medical and legal standards to protect both recipients and donors. Our transplant protocols and post-care services are designed to reduce the risk of infection, kidney rejection, and other medical complications.

In addition, The Aga Khan University Hospital provides all related specialties under one roof, including Urology, Infectious Diseases, Haematology, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Pulmonology, Psychiatry, Dentistry, Dermatology, and Vascular Surgery. If a patient has other medical conditions, the transplant team works closely with specialists to ensure smooth recovery.
