Book Appointment

The common cold is a mild viral infection that affects the nose, throat, and sinuses. It is most commonly caused by rhinoviruses, although other viruses can also cause colds.

You can catch a cold by:

  • Breathing in droplets from an infected person when they cough, sneeze, or talk

  • Touching your eyes, nose, or mouth after touching contaminated surfaces

  • Sharing objects such as towels, utensils, or frequently touched items

Most people recover within 7–10 days without prescription medicines, although a cough may last for up to two weeks.

For the common cold, you can consult our doctors in Family Medicine.
