Encephalitis
Book AppointmentEncephalitis is a serious condition in which the brain becomes inflamed, most commonly due to a viral infection. Less commonly, it may be caused by bacteria, parasites or an autoimmune reaction, where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks healthy brain tissue.
Some forms of encephalitis are mild, while others can lead to serious complications, including permanent brain damage or death if not treated promptly.
Older adults and people with weakened immune systems are at a higher risk of developing severe illness. Early diagnosis and treatment are essential to improve recovery.
