Established in 1924 as the Janbai Maternity Home and integrated with The Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) in 2010, the Aga Khan Hospital for Women and Children, Kharadar serves as a community-based hospital providing care for women, children, and families in Karachi.
Care for Women, Children, and Families
The Hospital offers inpatient services for women and children, including antenatal and postnatal care, labour and delivery, and management of gynaecological and paediatric conditions. Labour and delivery services include normal, assisted, and caesarean section deliveries, supported by trained clinical teams and appropriate monitoring facilities.
Outpatient consulting clinics provide access to multiple specialties for men, women, and children of all ages. Patients benefit from coordinated referrals across the AKUH network, including access to specialised care, diagnostics, and tertiary services when required.
Facilities and Support Services
The Hospital operates across two connected facilities: the historic Janbai Building, which houses inpatient services including wards, private rooms, operating theatres, pharmacy, and diagnostics; and the Aga Khan Diagnostic Centre, which provides outpatient consultations, laboratory, and diagnostic services.
On-site pharmacy, laboratory, and diagnostic services support timely and coordinated care. Urgent care services are available 24 hours a day for women and children requiring immediate medical attention.

The Aga Khan Hospital for Women and Children, Kharadar is SafeCare Level 5 certified, reflecting adherence to established quality management standards. Patient safety, clinical quality, and respectful care remain central to service delivery.
The Hospital is committed to improving access to healthcare. Services are offered at subsidised rates, with additional financial support available through zakat and patient welfare programmes for eligible patients.
