Department of Nursing Services

The Department of Nursing Services at The Aga Khan University Hospital provides nursing care across the continuum of patient care, supporting patients and families throughout their health care journey. Nurses work as part of multidisciplinary teams to provide safe, evidence-based and compassionate care across a wide range of medical, surgical and specialised services.

Nursing care is delivered across the Main Campus and off-campus hospitals, with nurses working closely with physicians, allied health professionals and other members of the care team. This collaborative approach supports coordinated care and helps address the individual needs of patients and their families.

The Department supports nursing practice across a range of clinical settings, including inpatient units, critical and special care areas, operating theatres, emergency services, outpatient clinics and other specialised care environments. Nursing teams contribute to patient assessment, care planning, treatment, education and discharge planning, helping patients and families understand and manage their care.

The Centre for Nursing Education and Continuing Professional Development (CNECPD) supports ongoing learning and professional development for nurses and other health care professionals across the AKUH Health System. Its programmes include clinical education, specialty and advanced learning, simulation-based training, clinical mentorship, leadership development and continuing professional development.

Through education, clinical development and collaboration with the School of Nursing and Midwifery (SONAM), Aga Khan University and other healthcare organisations, the Department contributes to strengthening nursing practice and developing a skilled, practice-ready workforce. These efforts support a culture of continuous learning and improvement, with the ultimate aim of enhancing the quality and safety of patient care.
