Department of Oncology​​

The Section of Paediatric Oncology at The Aga Khan University Hospital provides specialised care for children and adolescents with cancer and haematological disorders.

The Section manages a broad spectrum of childhood malignancies, including leukaemia, lymphoma, neuroblastoma, brain and spinal cord tumours, retinoblastoma, and other rare paediatric cancers. Care is delivered through structured diagnostic pathways and coordinated treatment planning within a multidisciplinary tumour framework.

Services include chemotherapy, supportive transfusion therapy, and access to clinical trials where appropriate. Treatment strategies are aligned with international protocols and adapted to individual clinical needs.

Given the complexity of paediatric cancers, care is closely integrated with paediatric surgery, neurosurgery, radiation oncology, pathology, radiology, intensive care, and rehabilitation services. Structured psychosocial and family support initiatives form part of comprehensive care.

As part of a quaternary-care academic medical centre, the Section contributes to paediatric oncology research, clinical trials, and postgraduate training while maintaining rigorous standards of safety and governance.
