Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Aga Khan University is a dynamic academic centre that serves the diagnostic needs of the country through clinical laboratory services spanning Pakistan. The department is heavily engaged in undergraduate, postgraduate and technologist training, offering professional training in five major areas of Pathology.
It currently has 66 faculty members (including part-time and visiting faculty) 28 residents and 46 trainee technologists. The department has 5 distinct sections.
Our department brings together expert pathologists and the latest laboratory technologies to deliver the best possible results for our patients. We are proud to have state-of-the-art Biosafety Level 2 and Level 3 labs, accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI) and the College of American Pathologists (CAP) making us the first clinical laboratories in Pakistan to hold this distinction.

Our experienced team of pathologists interprets every report, backed by efficient, respectful and compassionate customer service with clear communication about tests and results.
Beyond clinical services, our faculty and technical staff are actively engaged in medical research and education currently supported by 15 Extramural grants and 10 intramural grants.
