The Section of Endocrinology at The Aga Khan University Hospital provides comprehensive care for disorders of the endocrine system, including hormonal and metabolic conditions affecting multiple organ systems.
The Section manages diabetes mellitus, thyroid disorders, pituitary and adrenal diseases, metabolic bone disorders, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and other endocrine imbalances. Many of these conditions require long-term monitoring and coordinated management due to associated comorbidities such as cardiovascular disease, obesity, renal disease, and reproductive health concerns.
Endocrinologists in the Section are trained to evaluate complex hormonal regulation and metabolic pathways, ensuring accurate diagnosis and evidence-based treatment strategies. Care is delivered through both outpatient and inpatient services, with close collaboration across internal medicine, cardiology, nephrology, gynaecology, rheumatology, and surgery where required.
As part of a quaternary-care academic medical centre, the Section maintains high standards of clinical governance while contributing to postgraduate education and clinical research in endocrine and metabolic disorders.
