The Section of Neurology at The Aga Khan University Hospital provides comprehensive evaluation and management of disorders of the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and muscles.
The Section manages a broad spectrum of neurological conditions, including stroke, epilepsy, movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, neurodegenerative conditions including Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular disorders, and complex headaches. Both acute and chronic neurological illnesses are treated through coordinated outpatient and inpatient services.
Clinical care is supported by a dedicated Neurophysiology Unit offering specialised diagnostic services, alongside advanced imaging and multidisciplinary collaboration across internal medicine, neurosurgery, rehabilitation, psychiatry, and critical care where required.
Recognising the long-term and often life-altering nature of neurological illness, the Section also facilitates structured patient and caregiver support initiatives to complement medical management.
As part of a quaternary-care academic medical centre, the Section is engaged in clinical training and research while maintaining rigorous standards of patient safety and governance.
