Overview
The AKUH Lymphedema Programme is dedicated to providing comprehensive care and support for patients living with lymphedema. Lymphedema is a condition that causes swelling in a part of the body, usually the arms or legs, and can lead to loss of movement in the affected limb. It can be present at birth or occur after surgery, radiation therapy, or infection. Our programme offers a variety of services to help you manage your lymphedema and improve your quality of life while living with the condition.

Primary lymphedema: This is a less common form of lymphedema that is present at birth or develops later in life for no apparent reason.
Secondary lymphedema: This is the more common form of lymphedema and develops as a complication of surgery, radiation therapy, or infection.
