<span style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14.6667px;">Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi has been re-certified for ISO 9001:2008 standard by Bureau Veritas Certification body. ISO 9001:2008 is the latest version which replaces ISO 9001:2000 that the hospital had earlier received 2003. The Hospital was the first in East Africa to receive the coveted certification from the International Organization for Standardisation.</span><br style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14.6667px;"/><br style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14.6667px;"/><span style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14.6667px;">The certification is awarded to organisations that are found to conform fully to standards set for quality management systems. During the presentation of the award, Mr Shawn Bolouki the hospital&#39;s CEO, commended the staff for their efforts and hard work in ensuring that the hospital provides quality healthcare services. He emphasied on the need to maintain and improve on health delivery to satisfy patients. For an organisation to qualify to receive the award, they are required to prove they are able to constantly provide quality services which meet the customers, legal and regulatory requirements.</span><br style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14.6667px;"/><br style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14.6667px;"/><span style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14.6667px;">An organisation should also have a goal of improving the satisfaction of the customers by ensuring that their systems are improved and an assurance of conformity in regards to legal and regulatory requirements. Apart from the ISO certification, the Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi is also accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI) from the USA, an indication that the hospital is providing the highest quality of patient care and safety in line with international standards. In addition, the hospital is also accredited by the South African National Accreditation System (SANAS).</span><br style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14.6667px;"/><br style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14.6667px;"/><span style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14.6667px;">This accreditation oversees the operations and quality systems of medical or healthcare laboratories including the training of personnel and the compliance to consensus-based standards and guidelines. </span><br style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14.6667px;"/>
