Welcome to AKUH Dental Clinics, where we go the extra mile to make you smile!

The Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi offers comprehensive dental services provided by a highly trained and experienced dental team. Some of the services we offer include:

Aesthetic dentistry procedures help to improve the appearance of your teeth. These include:

Teeth whitening
This removes stains on enamel and lightens pigmentation by up to eight shades. Whiteness depends on degree of discolouration and whether your teeth are stained by ageing, food, nicotine or root canal treatment. The process is safe, speedy and dependable.

Tooth coloured white fillings
These create an appealing and natural look. They are strong and durable and can be as good as or better than your own teeth!

Veneers
Translucent veneers and bonding materials can conceal many imperfections. Are your teeth stained, chipped or cracked? Look totally natural with any of these custom-made restorations. Are your teeth slightly crowded, uneven or irregular? We can refashion your smile… without braces!
Root canal treatment is the only way to save your teeth when the tooth pulp (which contains nerves and blood vessels) becomes infected or damaged because of deep decay or an injury. Root canal treatment is done in one or two visits, depending on the condition of the tooth. It is advisable to crown a tooth following root canal treatment.
Dental implants are artificial tooth supports, which are surgically set in the jaw and can replace any number of missing teeth. They are used in any combination, ranging from a single implant to replace a missing tooth, a bridge to replace multiple missing teeth, or dentures to replace all upper and/or lower missing teeth.
Surgical procedures include extraction, removal of impacted third molars and emergency care such as minor maxilla-facial trauma. Complex surgical cases are usually handled by our experienced in-house maxillofacial surgeon.
Our orthodontic services deal with the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of dental and facial irregularities through the application of a variety of appliances for straightening the teeth. More complex orthodontic treatment may require referral to an orthodontist, which our team can provide.
It is important to pay special attention to your child’s oral care. Milk teeth can have the same problems as permanent teeth and dental problems can interfere with your child’s oral and general health. An early start in regular dental care is an important step on the road to maintaining your child’s total health.

Our Dental Clinic can help you maintain your child’s oral health by:
  • Teaching his/ her how to take care of his/her own teeth, by providing proper oral hygiene instructions on tooth brushing, flossing and dietary advice
  • Providing regular check-ups to make sure that his/her teeth stay healthy
  • Providing preventive dental care, with regular fluoride application and fissure sealants (fillings)
  • Examining his/her to diagnose and treat any dental problems before they become serious.
Periodontal (gum) disease is a serious bacterial infection that destroys the attachment fibers and supporting bones that hold your teeth in place. The majority of adults have some form of this chronic disease resulting in bad breath, swollen or bleeding gums and eventual tooth loss. A strong association also exists between periodontal disease and systemic conditions like diabetes and heart conditions. Our Dental Clinic offers specialized procedures to treat periodontal diseases.
Prosthetics are used to restore and maintain your oral functions by replacing missing teeth with artificial prosthesis including crowns, bridges, dentures (partial and complete) and dental implants.
If you have a cavity, your tooth needs to be filled with a durable material. Our Dental Clinic offers a wide range of fillings, including cosmetic white fillings.
