Eye Care (Ophthalmology)

We offer both out-patient services and in-patient services. We have a dedicated team of senior Specialist Ophthalmologists, nursing staff, administrative staff and support staff. We ensure that all our patients receive the right diagnosis and the best treatment.

Outpatient Clinic

Our Out-patient services work on all days except Sundays and festival holidays.

24 hours' emergency services function on all days.

There is a line for booking prior to consultation however emergency cases or painful eyes conditions are seen as walk in patients.

Majority of the patients are diagnosed and treated as outpatients. Patients who requires special procedures or surgeries, are advised of the facilities available.

We have various subspecialties: cataract, cornea, glaucoma, squint and paediatric ophthalmology, Vitreo retina and Laser, uvea, orbit & oculoplasty, Corneal graft, and refractive surgery.

We do the latest type of cataract surgery, Phaco emulsification commonly known by people as Laser cataract surgery.

Different type of retinal detachment surgery is now performed by very skillful surgeons, also surgery on children with eye deviation and surgery for patients with glaucoma not responding to eye drops.

We also have a Spectacles/glasses service with a very good optical workshop and different types of beautiful frames.

Inpatient Services

AKUH offers state-of-the-art facilities; modern operation theatres are well equipped with trained dedicated personnel. Our in-patient facilities include private executive rooms and general wards. Trained ophthalmic nursing assistants provide twenty-four-hour nursing care.
