Neurosurgery

AKUH, N is one of the most highly regarded neurosurgical facilities in East, Central and Southern Africa. The Neurosurgery Section is led by specialists who have earned fellowships in neurological surgery from internationally recognised healthcare training institutions.

Under their guidance, our team provides a wide range of paediatric and adult neurosurgical services to diagnose and treat conditions that affect all aspects of the nervous system, including the brain and spine.

We offer the following services;

  • Cerebrovascular and endovascular therapy for complex brain disorders
  • Neuro-endoscopic surgery for cranial and skull base lesions and complex spine therapies.
  • We also offer a robust neuro-critical care service including invasive neuromonitoring for traumatic brain injury.

We are a regional referral centre and training site and part of full surgical academic department. It is anticipated in the near term the department will develop and implement an MMed-Neurosurgery training programme.

Weekly clinics run from Monday through to Friday
