Located on the ground floor of Doctor's Plaza Building, Physiotherapy department deals with the assessment, treatment and prevention of injuries, disabilities and disorders by physical and bio-mechanical means. This includes tissue manipulation, regulated exercise, hydrotherapy, heat and electrotherapy. Physiotherapy is an important part of enabling patients to function at their optimal physical level and often complements other therapies and treatments.

The physiotherapists and rehabilitation specialists at AKUH,N are here to provide you with experienced, multifaceted support throughout your journey to recovery. We have expertise in a wide variety of modern techniques, such as neuro-rehab and musculoskeletal treatments, ante-natal and post-natal exercises and sports medicine. Our state-of-the-art facilities are purpose-built to ease your recovery with modern amenities such as a hydrotherapy pool, a fully equipped rehab gymnasium and an ultra-modern cardiac rehabilitation unit.

Part of your medical rehabilitation may require the fitting and delivery of prosthesis or orthosis, which are orthopaedic appliances (mechanical devices) specifically designed to replace lost functions or parts of the human body after injury or disease.
The orthopaedic specialists at AKUH,N are here to provide expert support in the design, use and maintenance of the orthopaedic appliance you require.
Occupational Therapists teach people the skills of living lost through disease, injury, absence like in congenital malformations, and in mental disturbance.

Who needs our services?

  • Children with all developmental issues that limit them from normal play, growing and learning including cerebral palsy, autism, downs syndrome, rickets club foot, burns and hand injuries.
  • Adults with stroke, mental /mood disturbances, hand injuries, neurological conditions, fractures, post-operative care and any other condition limiting functions.
  • Elderly with balance issues, withdrawal, inadequacy in self-care, loss of function and cognitive issues.
We also do splinting, home assessment and adjustment and hand therapy.​
