Dr Elkanah Omenge appointed new Chair for Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Elkanah Omenge as Chair, Department of Obstetrics &amp; Gynecology, Medical College - AKU effective 1st February 2023. Dr. Omenge previously worked at Moi University School of Medicine, Eldoret in the capacity of Chair, Department of Reproductive Health. His clinical function is Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynecology, with a sub-specialization in Gynecological Oncology. Dr Omenge serves as a reviewer and sits in several editorial boards of leading Clinical Journals, and he is also an external examiner in various medical schools in Kenya.</p><p>Prior to joining Moi University, Dr Omenge worked at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital as a Consultant Obstetrician-Gynecologist. He completed his residency at the University of Nairobi and his fellowship in Gynecological Oncology jointly at Moi University, Eldoret and University of Toronto, Canada.</p><p>Dr Omenge undertook his PhD in Medical Sciences at the University of Antwerp, Belgium. He has over 80 research publications and has attracted numerous grants in both research and training. He has supervised students at Masters, Clinical Fellowship and PhD levels.</p><p>He brings significant experience in leadership, clinical service, teaching and research. Dr Omenge was recognized at AKU as one of the authors with over 50 publications, and additional recognitions include winning the Kenya Obstetrical &amp; Gynecological Society Presidential award for research in HPV and Cervical Cancer, and in his leadership in Gynecological Oncology. He is a respected leader globally in this field.
