AKU Secondary Hospitals in Karimabad, Karachi, and Hyderabad receive SafeCare Certification

 
<p>As part of AKUH&#39;s mission to continuously enhance the quality of health care offered to our patients, two of AKU&#39;s Secondary Hospitals,  embarked on a journey to get SafeCare® Certification,  which helps hospitals in developing countries strengthen their quality and patient safety standards. This helps patients feel confident they can fully trust these hospitals to take care of them.
</p><p>Both these AKU Secondary Hospitals,  the Aga Khan Hospital for Women, Karimabad, and the Aga Khan Maternal and Child Care Centre, were successful in getting the much coveted, highest level 5 of SafeCare® accreditation, becoming part of a select group of healthcare providers globally known to offer superior, safe and high-quality healthcare services.</p><p>SafeCare is part of the PharmAccess Group. With headquarters in Amsterdam and most of its staff based in four country offices across Africa, PharmAccess is an international, not-for-profit organization, with a history of reimagining what is possible. SafeCare® accreditation standards cover compliance to a full range of management, clinical, support services, and ancillary services  This enables a holistic view of all the components required for the safe and efficient provision of health care services to patients. </p><p>The SafeCare® audit, that was held between 28<sup>th</sup> and 29<sup>th</sup> November 2022 at  AKHW, Karimabad Hospital, and between 30<sup>th</sup> November and 2<sup>nd</sup> December at  AKMCCC, Hyderabad, tested the hospitals&#39; compliance with the protocols as per SafeCare&#39;s patient care standards. </p><p>A team of two auditors conducted the assessment with one assessor on-site and one online. The assessment concluded that both these hospitals have fully complied with all the 13 Service Elements, 170 Standards, and 680 measurable criteria, the stringent prerequisites required to achieve the highest level V of SafeCare Certification – a testament that they offer the highest standards of healthcare services as per international best practices.</p><p>Dr Mairaj Shah, Chief Operating Officer, AKU Secondary Hospitals, Pakistan, congratulated both the  Hospital teams on successfully receiving the SafeCare Level V accreditation with flying colors and appreciated their hard work and commitment towards the broader quality mission of AKU and AKUH. </p><p>“Both the hospitals took this challenge with a strenuous preparation over the last 12 months and achieved significant breakthroughs in improving management, clinical, support services and ancillary operations of the hospitals,&quot; he said.
