Dr Farhat

My name is Farhat Abbas, and I am the CEO of the Aga Khan University Health Services, Pakistan, including our Main Hospital on Stadium Road, Karachi, our four off-campus Aga Khan Hospitals in Karachi and Hyderabad, and our Outreach Health Network across Pakistan.

It is my privilege to serve you by building on the successes of my esteemed predecessors and working with our health services team to ensure that we continue to deliver the highest quality of care, with an ever improving standard of patient centricity and patient experience.​

I have a longstanding relationship with AKU, spanning almost 40 years. I am a surgeon by training and profession, and have served in multiple roles at the University and the Health Services. It is my endeavour to ensure that our organization remains synonymous with access to quality healthcare throughout Pakistan and the region, in line with our Guiding Princples of Quality, Access, Relevance and Impact.

We are committed to offering quality healthcare which is accessible to all, regardless of our patients' ability to pay. Our Patient Welfare and Zakat Programmes have served millions of patients over the years, and in 2022 alone, more than 1.1 million patients received financial support exceeding Rs. 433 Crores, over 75% of which was funded by the hospital's own funds.

The Aga Khan University Hospital is a private, not for profit, organization with a mission to:

  • Strive for excellence in healthcare through the provision of the highest quality, expert, compassionate and ethical care to all patients irrespective of their background. 

  • Develop, implement and evaluate innovations in health care, research and education so as to improve the quality of people's health.

  • Support the teaching, research and service missions of the University through an enabling and collaborative environment that motivates and inspires excellence.

  • Provide access for needy patients who may not, on account of financial difficulties, be able to afford to pay for their care, and to reach out to those who might not otherwise present themselves at the Hospital.

  • Contribute to the development of a system of health care encompassing primary, secondary and tertiary care, and not geographically confined to the Main Hospital Campus facility.

  • Develop new services in response to public expectations on an economically viable and sustainable basis.

بنیادی، ثانوی اور ٹرشری نگہداشت پر مشتمل صحت کی دیکھ بھال کے نظام کی ترقی میں تعاون کریں، اور جغرافیائی طور پر مین ہسپتال کیمپس کی سہولت تک محدود نہ رہیں۔
