Vision Rehabilitation Programme
Supporting independence and quality of life for people with visual impairment
The AKUH Vision Rehabilitation Programme supports individuals living with significant visual impairment that cannot be fully corrected with medical treatment, surgery, or standard glasses. Our focus is on helping patients make the best possible use of their remaining vision, so they can continue to live independently, safely, and with confidence.
Through personalised assessments, assistive solutions, and structured rehabilitation support, we bridge the gap between clinical eye care and everyday functioning — enabling patients to participate more fully in daily life, education, and work.
Conditions We Support
We provide care and support for patients with a wide range of eye conditions that can cause visual impairment, including:
- Age-related macular degeneration (AMD)
- Glaucoma-related vision loss
- Diabetic retinopathy
- Inherited retinal disorders
- Optic nerve diseases
- Congenital or childhood-onset visual impairment
- Vision loss due to trauma or neurological conditions
