Act on Mouth Health – Take Care of Your Oral Health

<div>On the account of World Oral Health Day, the Aga Khan University Hospital organized an awareness camp at the main Hospital building. More than 400 people visited the stalls where Dental Hygiene students advised people about the importance of oral health and some simple ways to look after it. </div><div>
</div><div>Maintaining good oral health will have a positive impact on your general health and well-being. It is advised to take good care of your oral health at home by eating a healthy diet, particularly the one low in sugar, avoiding tobacco and most importantly one must have regular dental check-ups.  </div><div>
</div><div>“We received an excellent response from the audience, they had basic questions regarding teeth sensitivity, gum bleeding and ways to prevent cavity in children” Iqra Damani, 2nd Year Student at the Aga Khan University.</div><div>
</div><div>Most of the participants did not have any awareness about the importance of tongue cleaning, scaling, flossing and regular check-ups. The audience appreciated the information shared and encouraged the team to conduct more of such awareness sessions. </div><div>
</div><div>&quot;Beyond expectation, we had an excellent turnout. The general public learned a lot about dental hygiene, the profession and its benefits. We would like to reach out to more individuals and also share with them the awareness of mouth cancers and periodontal gum infections” said Salima Alibhai, Director, Dental Hygiene Programme, the Aga Khan University Hospital.</div>
