AKUH Doctors Speak On Heart and Vascular Services in Hyderabad

 
<p>​</p><p>On the occasion of launching the Cardiology and Vascular clinics at <a href="/pakistan/Hyderabad/Pages/default.aspx">The Aga Khan Maternal and Child Care Centre</a>, Hyderabad, a health talk on heart and vascular services was held at the hospital on Friday, April 13, 2018. </p><p>The session was facilitated by three expert doctors from The Aga Khan University Hospital, Dr. Saulat Fatimi, Dr. Javed Tai and Dr. Fareed Shaikh. The event was attended by over 200 people. The objective of this health talk was to create awareness about <a href="/pakistan/Pages/look-up-diseases.aspx">heart and vascular diseases</a>​, the associated risks and right and timely treatment for it. In addition to that, the intention was to let people know about the new heart and vascular services that are being offered at our Hyderabad hospital.</p><p>In case of heart attack, it is highly important for patients to go for angiography or angioplasty immediately as advised by the doctors. In that case, every second is highly important and wasting even a minute in decision making for the surgery can put the patient in danger of losing life according to Dr. Javed Tai who is an Assistant Professor, Cardiology and Catheterization Laboratory Director at AKUH.  </p><p>While talking about vascular services, Dr. Fareed told the public that diabetic patients are extremely sensitive and most of them are likely to develop foot ulcers at some point in life. Hence, in case of even small wounds or infections, one must immediately consult the doctors before it&#39;s too late. </p><p>Dr. Saulat Fatimi, Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Chief of Heart, Lungs and Vascular Service Line at The Aga Khan University Hospital, talked about the prevalence of heart diseases in Pakistan. He told us that heart diseases are the leading cause of deaths in Pakistan. While talking to public he also cleared up many myths about the heart diseases. </p><p>Dr. Saulat Fatimi also made a special announcement for the public that soon a free video clinic will be launched at The Aga Khan Maternal and Child Care Centre, Hyderabad. In this clinic, expert doctors from the main campus will provide free video consultation to the patients. </p><p>After the health talks by experts, a question and answer session was held, where audience asked their queries from the guest speakers, they praised them and made requests about having more extensive services at the Hyderabad hospital. </p>
