Inauguration of the Urology Procedure Suite

<div><span style="font-family: helvetica;">The Aga Khan University Hospital has just launched the Urology Procedure Suite. The new suite is a patient friendly facility, equipped with the latest technology to address bladder and kidney diseases.</span></div><div><br style="font-family: helvetica;"/></div><div><span style="font-family: helvetica;">The Lithotripsy procedure room administers Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL), a non-invasive treatment for patients with stones in the urinary system. The 45-minutes procedure uses equipment that has recently been updated. The updated machine efficiently delivers shockwaves to break stones and is equipped with both ultrasound and fluoroscopy to locate stone. It can also help in the detection and treatment of selected stones in ureter, which is otherwise often difficult to do. We have a dedicated team with years of experience in treating patients with Lithotripsy.</span></div><div><br style="font-family: helvetica;"/></div><div><span style="font-family: helvetica;">A separate room has been built to conduct Urodynamics (CMG) Test for the diagnosis of urinary incontinence and neurogenic bladder. The technologically sound equipment provides precise results and also enables on-spot reporting. AKUH also receives physician referrals from other hospitals to carry out these diagnostic tests for the directed patients. We have internationally trained staff specifically qualified to carry out and interpret Urodynamics.</span></div><div><br style="font-family: helvetica;"/></div><div><span style="font-family: helvetica;">The same room also has equipment to carry out non-invasive Urodynamics which consist of Uroflowmetry (UFM) and post-void residual urine test. This basic non-invasive test is required for almost all patients with incontinence, urination problems and enlarged prostate.  For this test patient needs to have a comfortably full bladder and is asked to void in a specially designed urinal. Uroflowmetry is also available at Clifton Medical Services and Aga Khan Maternity and Child Care Centre, Hyderabad. </span></div><div><br style="font-family: helvetica;"/></div><div><span style="font-family: helvetica;">No prior appointment is required to carry out Uroflowmetry and Post Void Residual Scan, however for Urodynamics (CMG) and Lithotripsy (ESWL), a prior evaluation is needed from the Urologist at AKUH.</span></div><div><span style="font-family: helvetica;">Most of the tests and treatments offered at the Urology Procedure Suite can be carried out as walk-in procedures with adequate pre-procedure preparation. The Urology Procedure Suite is located at 2nd Floor, Jena Bai Hussainali Shariff Building (JHSB), Aga Khan University Hospital, Stadium Road main campus and it is operational 06 days a week from 9am to 5:00pm. </span><a href="/pakistan/AboutUs/News/Documents/Lithotripsy%20Suite%20December%20final.pdf" style="font-family: helvetica; background-color: #ffffff;">View map</a></div><div><br style="font-family: helvetica;"/></div><div><span style="font-family: helvetica;">Appointment and registration desk for procedures is available at 1st Floor, Urology-Nephrology Clinic Counter, Jena Bai Hussainali Shariff Building (JHSB).</span></div><div><span style="font-family: helvetica;">
