Home Health is designed to make quality medical care more easily accessible, comfortable and convenient for people who are elderly, chronically ill, living with incurable diseases, recovering from surgery, disabled or need specialised care. Any person who falls into these categories can benefit from the Home Health services offered by The Aga Khan University Hospital. 

Some of our services include physician home visit and assessment, changes of surgical wound dressing, administration of antibiotics and insertion of intravenous cannulation, administration of nebulizers, respiratory therapy, administration of enema, urinary catheterization, nasogastric tube insertion, stoma care, vital signs, hygiene care and assisting patients with activities of daily living, etc.

We implement a customised plan for patients, whether they need short-term care while recovering from an injury or long-term support due to a chronic illness, our certified and highly qualified team of Home Health Services is there for support.​

The list of services includes:

  • Physician Consultation: A family physician provides medical treatment, prescribe medicines and guide for nutritional requirements. 
  • Nursing Procedures: The nursing staff is professionally trained in performing procedures and brings medicines and surgical items as per the medical condition of the patient.​
  • Home Physiotherapy: Skilled physiotherapist provides comprehensive rehabilitation services at home for convenience of patients who finds it difficult to travel to therapy centers. 
  • Geriatric Care (elderly care): Stay with persons of old age to assist them and their family in self-care related daily life activities. 
  • Palliative Care: Multidisciplinary clinical team consisting of medical doctors, nursing and allied health members will be available for patients with active, progressive, far-advanced disease. 
  • Home lab sample collection: Our professional team collect blood samples at your door step. 
  • Home delivery of medicines: Conveniently deliver medicines at your home.

Our family health doctor can conduct home visits to assess the condition of your illness, prescribe medicines and plan home based treatment and care. As well as providing the basic medical assistance, the doctor can provide professional counselling for medical treatment, care and nutritional requirements. Follow up visits can be arranged as needed. ​​
Our professionally trained, skilled and specialized nurses can conduct home visits to perform various procedures.  These brief visits of around half an hour include but are not limited to the monitoring of vital signs, insertion of an intravenous (IV) cannula or nasogastric tube, administration of IV antibiotics, intramuscular injections, nebulizers, stoma care, dressing changes of surgical wounds, urinary catheterization and enema. Our nurses can bring with them, the medicines and other medical items as required ​                                                                                     ​
Our panel of highly trained and skilled physiotherapists can provide comprehensive physiotherapy services in the comfort and convenience of your home. They are experts in active and passive therapies and can provide proper counselling and patient education.
Our professional health care assistants are trained to provide 24-hour comfort care for the home patient, assisting patients with activities for daily living including personal hygiene care.  Health Care Assistants will not be able to help or support in any daily domestic work. Our multidisciplinary health care team provides Palliative Care (care for the terminally ill and their families) for people with serious illnesses. It focuses on providing patients with relief from symptoms such as pain, physical and mental stress. The goal is to improve the quality of life for both the patient and the family. Palliative care is provided by a team of doctors, nurses, and other health professionals who work together with the primary care doctor and referred specialists. Palliative care can be provided along with curative treatment. Interdisciplinary palliative care teams work with patients and their families to clarify goals of care and provide symptom management, psycho-social and spiritual support.
